Rubel Hossain is a right-handed fast bowler with a different sling action, which made him quick calls for ODI debut and takes 4 wickets for 33 runs to make winner Bangladesh team against Sri Lanka. He started his bowling carrier in first-class cricket in 2007 against Khulna Division.

Career of Rubel Hossain

 

Rubel was selected for the Under-19 cricket world cup of 2008, and then he has played a lot of matches for the national team, including home series against Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and finally he performed in the world cup 2015 in Australia with huge success. His bowling speed, average and economy rates are excellent.

He was debutant in T20 cricket in 2009 against Sri Lanka in the world cup of T20 cricket. He makes a record of hat-trick wicket as 3rd Bangladeshi bowler against New Zealand in the ODI series in 2013. In the world cup 2015, he done a terrific job against England taking 4 wickets only for 53 runs and Bangladesh win the match to qualify for the quart-final

Rubel Hossain is a Bangladeshi fast bowler, currently playing for Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He is quick, and his slingy bowling action makes it even harder for the batsman. Rubel can consistently bowl at a good pace, he is also capable of generating extra bounce from the pitch. His yorkers are lethal, in many occasions he made Bangladeshi cricket fans smile with his trademark delivery.  Rubel is a death over specialist bowler, and he tends to perform better when the pressure is on. He doesn't crumble under pressure, seems that he actually loves this kind of situation. Rubel has the tendency to perform on the big occasions, he does that on a regular basis.

Rubel Hossain was born on January 1, 1990, at Bagerhat, Khulna, Bangladesh. Like many other Bangladeshi kids, he used to play cricket with taped tennis ball. An interesting fact is, he was mainly a batsman in his early days.

 came into the spotlight in 2006, when he topped the speed gun in the Grameen phone pacer hunt program. Rubel made his first-class debut in 2007 for Chittagong Division. After his impressive performances in the domestic circuit, Rubel was called for Bangladesh U-19 team. Rubel played for Bangladesh in 2008 U-19 cricket world cup.

In a country like Bangladesh, where genuine fast bowlers are very rare, it was obvious that Rubel will get national call-up sooner or later. Rubel was called in the ODI squad for the tri- series featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in 2009. Rubel took 4 wickets in his first ODI appearance, that was against Sri Lanka.  In the same year, he made his Test debut against West Indies.

Rubel Hossain's test career is not very impressive. But, he performed admirably in the ODIs. In 2013, Rubel became the 3rd Bangladeshi bowler to take a hat-trick in ODIs. He did this against New Zealand. But, his career best moment came in 2015 Cricket world cup. Bangladesh was playing against England in a do-or-die match. In the dying stage of the match, Rubel knocked off the stumps of Stuart Broad and James Anderson, which secured Bangladesh's victory as well as progress to the Quarter Final.

Rubel Hossain is regarded as the fastest Bangladeshi bowler. He bowled 82 miles/hour in Grameen phone pacer hunt program. Rubel bowled 149.5 km/h in a warm-up game in 2009, which is highest by any Bangladeshi bowler until today.
